Next-Gen Education

  • Imagine a world where there are no entrance exams, where one can learn what one wants to (from computer science to music to sport) on demand, and learn by doing rather than by reading. That is the vision, challenging as it is. We did set up a blog at The House of Algorithms to detail this further, but the effort is currently dormant for want of time. Certainly something I'll get to some day.

  • The above world will definitely use the web as one of its key components. Can one deliver attractive and fun content on the web? My effort at doing so while getting my son a bit more interested in arithmetic.

  • A very interesting and inspiring example of doing things differently: Scratch from the MIT media lab is a great way for children to learn what programming is about.
